The books I am going to read to explore the issue of violence are lower on my pile of books to read, so I've not progressed at all in my thinking in this area...until I read this essay. I'm still digesting it, so that's all I'll say for now.
While digesting, be aware of the "ingredients" in this dish that might require some Spirit of Ipecac to help prevent the illness this reveals about its author.
Specifically...
"I am not interested in finding the truth but in getting people loose from the truth."
"I'm not 'neutral' but strongly biased against all authority, including the authority of radical intellectuals."
and...
"...those are the means that justify all ends (emphasis mine).
